Automate daily decisions
After reading this post, weโll see:
Why you should automate daily decisions.
How you can use this system in your personal life.
A bonus to help you automate any daily decision!!
TL; DR;
Pick a decision you take daily. Build a system to automate it. Your mind will be free to focus on other things.
Earlier, a typical day would be like this:
Morning - "What do I have for breakfast today"? Look at the fridge. Look in the kitchen. Look at fruits. Think "What do I feel like having now"? And by the time I decided, 10 minutes would have passed.
The same loop continued for lunch and dinner too...
According to science, we make ~ 35,000 decisions / day!!
This can't be a good thing. It leads to:
๐ Stress
๐ Burnout
๐ Decision fatigue
To be completely free one must become a slave to a set of laws
But, fear not. There's a simple method to free your mind. And to help focus on what actually matters.
Enter automated decisions. Your secret weapon to beat decision fatigue.
How to get started?
Pick 1 area of life you want to simplify. It should involve decisions made daily.
Audit. For this item, how many times do you decide per day? Per week?
Audit. How long do you take to make 1 decision?
If this comes out to be a ton of time, proceed. Otherwise, look for another area of your life to simplify.
Create a system to automate this decision. Don't worry, I'll help you here.
โYou do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.
Example
Take the example of meal planning. I used to take ~ 20 minutes daily to decide what to eat. Thatโs ~ 122 Hrs. / year ๐ฎโ๐จ
I wanted to ban these decisions. So I came up with a simple idea :
"My meal calendar".
But what is it?
It's a simple calendar listing out the days of the week, and rows for each meal. In the weekend, simply fill it up. Once you're done, you will know what veggies / whatever else you have to buy. So your grocery list becomes simplified, too.
When it's time for breakfast/ lunch / dinner, simply look at your sheet. And get cooking.
๐ No more deciding.
๐ No more time wasted.
๐ Plain, simple and easy.
Because you guys rule, here is my actual meal calendar
No claps, please โ
