The perfect day exercise

After reading this post, we’ll see:

  • The “perfect day” exercise.

  • Scientific reasons - why it works

  • Simple steps on how to get started.

TL; DR;

Write down what your perfect day looks like. Take small steps towards achieving it. It may be easier than you think.

Do you feel like your days are slipping away without a sense of purpose? Days blur into weeks, months, years. You find yourself drifting from your dreams.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

- Time, Pink Floyd

The never - ending pursuit of " more" is eating your life:

Now imagine waking up, ready to seize the day. It's productive, fulfilling and more importantly, feels good. You're not bored to death. This isn't a fantasy. You can get here easier than you think.

The gap between this ideal state and your current reality seems unachievable. This is normal.

Fear not. Because I discovered the perfect solution.

Enter the "perfect day" exercise.

But what the heck is it ?

Your perfect day is just that - a perfect day for you. Have you ever thought what that looks like? Maybe you have a vague idea.

Today, it's time to write it down. Because, when you write, magic happens. Trust me. Some questions to get started:

  • What time are you waking up?

  • What does your social life look like?

  • What would you work on, in the day?

The SPIRE model for happiness will help think in a holistic manner. (insert link).

Hmm… how do I get started ?

  1. Visualize your perfect day, per the above ideas. Don't worry, go crazy here.

  2. Write things down. Important.

  3. Prioritize. According to importance and how easy or difficult it is, to achieve. 0 = low importance, high difficulty. 10 = high importance, low difficulty.

  4. Time block. Whatever has the highest scores. These are the most important. And you can achieve them pretty easily,

  5. Experiment. Maybe you assumed you have time for something. And later realized you don't. Change the scores. Real - world feedback is the best.

  6. Adjust. Go through this exercise, update your calendar and lifestyle accordingly.

Does this even work?

  1. Visualization changes how our brain works and helps create new connections.

  2. When you imagine doing something, the same parts of your brain light up as if you were actually doing it.

  3. A 12 week - study showed that visualization improved thinking skills & emotional well-being.

  4. Athletes who used visualization saw a 35% increase in muscle strength just from imagining their training.

That’s it!!

I hope this concept helps you design and live your perfect day . If you found this helpful, share with someone who will benefit.
